The team is chartered to design large scale systems to power the Prime Video viewed by a massive audience daily, and you will help bring customers streaming video view experience to a new level. You will develop the service to run on Amazon's cloud computing infrastructure (AWS) and have opportunities to interact with teams inside and outside the organization, plus to work on a variety of video devices such as the Kindle Fire, Fire TV, Fire phone, game consoles, Internet-connected TVs, BD Players, set-top-boxes, and mobile devices.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer you will lead the design of high-impact new automated tools and other test investments that help maintain the quality of the Prime Video client platforms. You will have an established track record in launching highly available customer-facing services and experiences, deep technical ability, excellent project management skills, solid communication skills, an ability and dream to achieve results in a dynamic environment, high creativity and, of course, a passion for bringing a world-class entertainment experience to Amazon customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related technical discipline
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Java, C or C++
  • Has lead the architecture, design and implementation of high-impact features at large scale.
  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
  • Metrics, analysis, and software profiling
  • Strong object-oriented design skills, fluent in design patterns and pragmatic in their application.
  • Experience leading and influencing software engineering methodologies within your team.
  • Experience with Java or other object oriented languages OR with client-side development in at least one of JavaScript, Android or iOS
  • Experience coaching & mentoring software development engineers including leading code and design reviews
  • Expert knowledge of, as well as experience leading/influencing, professional software engineering best practices for the full software development process, including coding standards, reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations with your teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Self-directed, demonstrate leadership potential and a great teammate
  • Eager to learn and learn fast, enjoy a rapidly changing environment
  • Shown ability to work effectively in a multi-functional team
  • Driven to provide the best customer experience via technology
  • Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Past experience in tooling or automation frameworks
  • Ability to drive innovation
  • Exposure to working with BDD tooling, languages and frameworks such as Cucumber, Gherkin or Selenium
