The AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) is one of the fastest-growing AWS businesses, providing super-simple provisioning and management for databases in the cloud. Customers can set up a new database with just a few clicks, and complex administrative tasks like scaling, fail-over, and monitoring are all handled in an automated fashion by our control systems. Operating such a large scale system comes with the challenge of building sophisticated and reliable automated control systems and management tools that provide improved control, visibility and predictability.
The RDS DevOps team are looking for Full Stack Software Development Engineers that are passionate about building management systems for large scale services. You will be designing high performance system architectures and creating web based tools and automations to help RDS improve the customer experience. You will work directly with the development teams to identify and resolve primary causes of service impacting issues and to build mitigation to common failure scenarios.
You are a full-stack engineer, and have a passion for implementing world-class user interfaces making use of the latest and best web technologies.
Experience using contemporary front-end web technologies such as: ReactJS, AngularJS, Backbone, NodeJS, SASS, Babel and JSX
Good command of computer Science fundamentals such as data structures, design patterns, algorithm design and problem solving, together with experience in developing in one or more of the following languages Java, Ruby, C++/C#
You want to talk to customers directly and design solutions that solve their problems through innovation and automation.
You understand how to build software in a continuous integration and continuous deployment environment.
Experience with testing tools such as ReactTestUtils, PhantomJS and TDD
You enjoy solving challenging problems and working in a fast-paced, flexible, collaborative
You have ideally 5+ years development experience
Knowledge of and previous development experience in a Linux or UNIX environment with a good understanding of networking concepts.
Knowledge of databases like MySQL, Oracle, SQLServer, or MongoDB is desirable but not a must
