Job Description

Amazon is seeking qualified Support Engineers to join our innovative, high-energy Information Security team and work within the Amazon Infrastructure Security team. Security Support Engineers protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to safeguard highly sensitive data, such as passwords and customer information. They work hands-on with network equipment and actively monitor Amazon systems for attacks and intrusions. Security Support Engineers are unique individuals prepared to relentlessly resolve security issues by gathering and analysing event data, conducting root-cause analysis and confidently escalating complex events to experienced second-tier Security Engineers to protect customer trust.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide first-tier security reviews of access to Amazon infrastructure

  • Implement and review controls to protect Amazon data and systems

  • Respond to security violations, potential vulnerabilities and alerts from detection systems

  • Work with software development teams to pro-actively assess risk, fix security issues, and provide policy guidance

  • Evangelize security within Amazon and be an advocate for customer trust

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • 2 years of experience in an operational IT role at a large organization

  • Familiarity with common network, system and web application attacks and mitigations

  • Fundamental knowledge of network and web protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • MA/MS in a related field

  • Security certifications encouraged

  • Experience triaging security alerts, conducting front-line analysis, and escalating high severity issues

  • Scripting and automation experience

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
