Want to help design and build a brand new set of apps and a platform for the future of Talent Management at Amazon, as experienced by hundreds of thousands of employees? You can help us deliver an awesome employee experience, putting the employee at the center of their career. Come be part of a team that will directly shape and influence the future growth of every employee at Amazon including your own!

You will work as a front end developer using the latest technologies to build a responsive JavaScript web application (using ECMA5, React and Angular 2). You will also interact with the back end including Java microservices in a distributed service-orientated architecture using AWS, NoSQL and workflows.

You will work as part of a sustainable paced agile team and you will take ownership for the UI parts of the platform and apps. Your team will own the business, technology and operations, giving you the responsibility, authority and autonomy to ensure success. You can be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to web development across a variety of technologies.

Come join a team full of very intelligent and capable people who come from all over the world. Enjoy the chance to work in a relaxed setting with a good social life. The team based in Edinburgh, Scotland is rapidly expanding. Successful candidates will have a passion for technology, a focus on the customer experience and great teamwork/communication skills.

  • Relevant degree (2.1 or higher). Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated coding and problem solving skills in at least one modern programming language, e.g. JavaScript, Ruby, Java.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex features using raw JavaScript, without using libraries. You can also evaluate and use front-end libraries, frameworks, and toolsets effectively. You are capable of extending and debugging libraries, and can dive into the source code to debug and patch when necessary.
  • A system level understanding of how different tiers of the codebase interact; you will provide input to architecture and API design to ensure smooth end-to-end integration.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated best-practice engineering including some Agile methodologies, unit testing, TDD, refactoring, code reviews, build and deployment processes.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers.
  • Advanced coding skills (profiling and performance optimisation).

  • Results oriented with a strong customer and business focus
  • Highly innovative, flexible and self-directed, but also a cooperative team player
  • Ability to communicate and discuss technical topics with both technical and business audiences
