Job Description

Amazon Lumberyard is a free AAA game engine deeply integrated with AWS and Twitch – with full source. The Lumberyard team aspires to help game developers create the highest quality games, engage massive communities of fans, and connect their games to the vast compute and storage of the cloud. Key Responsibilities:

As an experienced Software Development Engineer on our Editor tools team, you will be a creative problem solver who enjoys developing tools in Qt. You will work with our engineering teams and customers to design and build tools and pipelines for Lumberyard. We’ll count on you to raise the bar with solid engineering fundamentals and leadership, but also with your passion for making great software that enhances the lives of game developers. (Multiple vacancies available for this role).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Professional software engineering experience working on multi-discipline teams with a specialty in video games tools (graphics, animation, physics) and pipeline development
  • Advanced software engineering skills, including the ability to write expert-level, maintainable, and robust code in C++
  • Proven expertise building tools and pipelines for video game technology (editors, plug-ins, asset pipelines, etc.)
  • Unity, Unreal, CryEngine or other 3D game engine development experience
  • Graphical programming experience (OpenGL, DirectX, etc.)
  • 2D/3D experience with animation and shaders
  • Demonstrable experience as a lead developer leading small project team(s)
  • Professional game industry experience working on cross-platform games
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
  • Track record of working effectively on shared projects with designers, artists, testers, and other developers
  • Experience working on highly scalable architecture supporting multiplayer systems with thousands to millions of concurrent users

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degrees with concentration in graphics or video games
  • Published in a professional journal and/or presented at game industry conference or trade show
