HR Delivery Manager (HRDM)

As an HR Delivery Manager (HRDM), you will enjoy a varied role and a wide range of interactions across all levels on a daily basis. You will gain exposure to many different aspects of the business and have the opportunity to work on national HR projects. Reporting to the HR Manager at our Dunfermline Fulfilment Centre, you will play a critical role in delivering the HR plan. You will manage a team of HR Advisors, a Senior HR Assistant and HR Associate Contacts in order to deliver the core HR operational activity on site to deliver engaged associates, inspiring leaders and excellent employee relations practice. Working closely with the HR Manager and Employee Relations team you will ensure excellent standards across all aspects of HR operations. You will utilize your excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills to drive employee engagement and continuous improvement across all core HR metrics, ensuring that we retain motivated teams of employees who can deliver an excellent service to our customers by developing managers into inspiring leaders. Whatever you will focus on, it will all be aimed at delivering the highest quality service to our internal and external customers.

General Scope of Role:
The HRDM works as an integral part of the HR and wider site management team and supports the operation of the FC by contributing to the delivery of the HR plan, playing a pivotal role by leading the HRC, SHRA and HRAC teams to execute the delivery plan for HR operations.
As the HRDM, you will be the principal HR point of contact for the site Associate Forum, coaches and develops the HR Operations team ensuring best practice delivery of all core people processes on site. Additionally you will audit all core HR processes to ensure rigor and compliance, be the custodian of the associate experience on site, act as the site ER Subject Matter Expert and proxy for the HRM when required. You will act autonomously and in the absence of the HRM, you are willing and able to take decisions which have site-wide impact and you are able to influence senior relationships; can set own priorities and plans; uses one-to-ones to develop thought-process and critical thinking.

As the HRDM you will not only role model, translate and coach leadership principles during your interactions with associates, leaders and through the onboarding process for new hires but will also identify trends, build strategies and practices that ensure adoption of leadership principles and values across site. You will also actively coach, and be respected for coaching others outside of your immediate business area, including senior leaders; acting as a critical business partner.

Organisational Development and Planning

As the HRDM you will understand local site strategy and how this interfaces with country and regional plans as well as annual business strategy and business performance measurements i.e. OP1/OP2/R&O goals – applying change management approach to the development and implementation of local and country led strategies. You will provide data and feedback for the (S)HRM and HRBPs to the site strategy, partnering on translating this into execution. You will use business knowledge to inform and set HR performance goals for business and/or site as well as developing and implementing communication plans for organizational changes.

Organisational Health

As the HRDM you actively partner with the site leadership team to identify measures necessary to foster a productive and positive work environment that retains and engage employees. You create strategic plans to address workplace environment and retention issues within business and will delegate components of this plan to others in your team as appropriate still ensuring accurate and timely delivery. You deal with highly complex and/or sensitive investigations in consultation with management. You seek out patterns, trends or risks internally and externally that effect employee workplace or relations, keep leaders informed and influence the need for action. You will lead the development of a component of compliance initiatives and related change management plans. You are able to integrate legislative changes into People related policies and procedures. You are also able to interpret complex analytics and drive and lead on recommendations arising from data. In addition to this, you will thrive in leading the Associate Forum and partnering with the Forum team on change and strategy.

Workforce Planning and Recruitment

As the HRDM you will actively enrich your network within the organization, building both internal and external contacts. You will also approve new hiring requisitions for the site, confirming appropriate role type and leveling and compliance with the site organisational design plan. You may support the execution of talent acquisition and expansion strategies across the UK network. You will partner with Recruitment to build talent assessment capability within the site and consult on recruitment process improvement initiatives. You will actively support recruitment in analysis of the sourcing strategy, providing data and feedback on the strategy to site leadership. You will also identify candidates for the bar raiser program and role leveling requirements, approve offer exceptions and will actively support new hire engagement for site leaders and facilitates the new leader assimilation program. You will consult as SME on recruitment strategy and approach being future focused with considered long term thinking including partnering with Finance, Recruitment and site leaders with regard to OP1/OP2/R&O headcount and tracking.

Talent Management & Development

As the HRDM you will oversee the execution of the OLR process across site and follow-through of outcomes and next steps. You will partner with the site leadership team to ensure talent metrics (where applicable) are achieved for
the site. You are able to identify broader themes in performance related matters, identifies root causes and takes action and/or coaches managers accordingly. You will assess the status of organization development and training needs, design programs in conjunction with HRBPs and Subject Matter Experts, actively managing training metrics. From a site perspective, you will coach managers and employees through people and organizational issues as they surface.

HR Operations

As the HRDM you are an expert in leading employee relations for your site with excellent generalist HR skills and leadership ability, ensuring that the HR team provide a high standard of service to site customers. You will audit core people processes and will be able to identify issues and/or noncompliance as well as corporate data errors, i.e. job code assignments, legal entity inconsistencies, drawing insights to find root causes and trends. You will interpret policies and apply sound judgement of application for your site, identifying and driving process improvement needs where applicable. You are able to challenge and debate the approach to case management matters with our legal partners using SME knowledge. You will also lead on UK network projects and programs across a range of HR Operations and ER related topics.

People Management

You are able to demonstrate your understanding of the Amazon performance and leadership bar and effectively apply these to great hiring decisions of team and direct reports. You effectively set the direction for HR team members to achieve department or function level goals as well as building robust launch plans for new operational team members, providing regular coaching and feedback to help them grow individual functional skills and leadership capability. You understand, translate and execute the practices of performance management and improvement, coaching, facilitating and supporting operational managers so they may in turn hold their team members accountable for their own performance. You will also take ownership of the performance, engagement, talent and succession plans within your team, ensuring each team member is clear on expectations and actively engages in their own performance and development.

People Strategy

As the HRDM you understand and are able to communicate the UKOPS, UKHR and Site HR vision to team members. You set and articulate expectations around leadership behavior for the team, role model behavior that exemplifies the leadership principles and work with the (S)HRM to collaboratively set the local HR strategy with specific focus on people delivery, process and engagement activities. You will hold your HR Delivery team accountable to the strategy and required deliverables across the site for tactical associate engagement and process related matters.

Personal Attributes:

You will be a progressive, hands on and customer obsessed individual with the credibility and gravitas to succeed in a fast moving and customer focused operational environment; Several years of experiences as Senior HRBP/HR Manager or equivalent in a global and multi-national company with demonstrated success in meeting exceptionally high standards in a high volume, fast-paced, hands-on, technical environment; You will have a deep problem solving and analytical capability; experience of managing and analyzing HR metrics to find root causes and develop short, medium and long-term plans; You will be able to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels, having a proven hands-on attitude, being flexible and adaptable; You will be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate others and influence work behaviors;
You will have strong change management, negotiation and influencing skills. You should possess an intellectual curiosity, bringing valuable insight into the team/business. You will be able to operate with discretion, reliability and role model our leadership principals; You are able to work independently, multitask, organise and prioritise your workload and work to strict deadlines - the ability to deliver quality results against challenging deadlines is paramount. You will possess a high level of attention to detail and drive yourself to deliver work to a high standard; You are able to operate in a challenging and fast paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

  • Have significant HR experience at HR Manager / Head of HR Operations level, ideally within a high volume, fast paced and customer focussed environment

  • Possess problem solving and analytical capability; experience of managing and analysing HR metrics to find root causes and develop short, medium and long-term plans

  • Have the ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels

  • Have a proven hands-on attitude, be flexible and adaptable.

  • Demonstrate the ability to motivate others and influence work behaviours

  • Possess strong change management, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Have intellectual curiosity, bringing valuable insight into the team / business

Be experienced in managing a team of HR professionals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally both degree and CIPD qualified.

  • Good understanding of MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel) and HR information systems (e.g. PeopleSoft) would be advantageous
