Job Description

Amazon is seeking a experienced Category Merchant Manager (CMM) that will be based in Luxembourg working in the EU expansion team. The CMM role offers the unique opportunity to own a sizable portion of a category P&L while also driving large scale, high visibility projects across many different Amazon teams. The successful CMM will be a strong generalist professional. He or she must be able to work independently, be comfortable with ambiguity, and have strong account management skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving, have proven data analysis skills, show strong ownership/commitment, have proven leadership experience in managing projects, and bring relevant insights within your category.

Your responsibilities:


  • Category strategy and ownership: Work closely with the team leader on planning and business strategy, to drive best-in-class customer experience and maximize unit and sales growth through timely analysis and action.
  • Category improvement: Automate and scale the category-level growth through projects to enhance merchant experience and integration.
  • Business Development: Develop a strong understanding of your category market segment and monitor competitor/industry developments. Use data to create and communicate business plans for new opportunities to our senior leadership and conduct a financial analysis to set and meet sales and profit targets.
  • Partner management: Identify and lead new partnerships, manage key partners and enhance overall experience with better self-service and reporting resources.
  • Project Management: Partner with technology teams to establish and execute site experience roadmap, incorporating best practices and lessons learned from other geographies to improve the site and customer experience.
  • Focus on the customer, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to help deliver site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS and 6+ years of work experience required.
  • Fluent in English.
  • A strong background (5+ years) in product or account management with related business experience.
  • Demonstrates strong analytics, strategy development and project leadership skills.
  • Ability to bring innovative ideas and work hard to implement them through collaboration with multiple teams.
  • Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing multiple sales/buying accounts simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills (includes ability to use tools such as Excel and Access); ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Turkish language skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and experience delivering multiple competing projects simultaneously, taking ownership and driving results end to end.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically; a relentless focus on customers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Technical aptitude and agility to learn web-based tools and knowledge of SQL a plus.
  • Experience in consulting, e-commerce, tech and/or retail/consumer products industries a plus.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of owning P&Ls and driving results.
  • MBA or other applicable advanced degree.

The position is based in Amazon’s EU Headquarters in the city of Luxembourg. However once in Luxembourg relocation may be required. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a diverse and multicultural country located in the heart of Europe, bordered by France, Belgium and Germany.
