    At the Amazon Development Center, Bucharest, part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), we work on global-scale compute platforms, with special focus on serverless & container virtualization technologies, trusted compute, and server fleet tooling for AWS EC2. As a part of the EC2 Kernel and Operating System organization, we invent, own, and drive the building blocks that are the foundation of the cloud.

    We are looking for passionate, customer-focused, self-driven software development engineers to join the teams working on high-performance virtualization, hypervisors, the Linux kernel, and the platform technologies that power AWS. You will participate in the full development cycle from design and implementation to deployment and operations.     The OS and Emulation team (KaOS OnE) focuses on cutting-edge virtualization technologies that are the foundation of Amazon Web Services with an emphasis on device emulation, QEMU and Xen runtime. You will own and develop Nitro hypervisor features that will allow customers to run code in a highly secure environment.
    In this role, your main goal will be to create customer value. You will:
    • work to understand our customers' needs
    • engineer new features and products to meet their needs;
    • own and automate operations;
    • contribute new ideas and methods to continuously improve quality and development efficiency;

    Basic Qualifications

    • BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
    • Proficient in the areas low-level software engineering and/or systems programming
    • 3+ years of industry experience focused on Linux, including both kernel and user space development.

    Preferred Qualifications

      • 5+ years of hands-on experience in the area of low-level software engineering
      • Expert in using the typical Linux toolbox of open source software development and management tools.
      • Proficient with C/C++ programming in Linux environment, comfortable with scripting languages.
      • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
