Job Description

We are the Amazon Video team focusing on video subscriptions, a new initiative created early in 2016. In December 2015, we launched the ability for Prime members to subscribe to Showtime, Starz, and more a la carte simply using their Amazon account. Looking ahead, we are planning on bringing more great live television content to Amazon Video and are seeking engineers to work in our London office who want to help us bring this new content to customers.
Do you want to build products used every single day by your friends and family? Do you spend weekends bingeing through your favorite TV shows? Are you passionate about code simplicity over volume? Do you love to ship software early and often? If so, this may be the team for you. We’re building a platform to deliver compelling content to millions of customers, and we’re just getting started.
We have a broad charter, and on this team you’ll be able to get your hands on lots of technologies. Above all, you’ll be writing new scalable services, but you will also have the opportunity to do work on device applications: Objective-C on iOS, Java on Android, JavaScript on the web, a variety of smart TVs, and consoles, and more. Help our team build back-end services to serve data on millions of devices around the world and user interfaces that let customers find what they want to watch or discover new shows with ease. Build on top of Amazon’s vast development infrastructure, including AWS as well as internal tools for setting up continuous deployment and real-time monitoring. We will also be working closely with television content providers, so you’ll learn a thing or two about how a video signal goes from a camera on the field to your living room in only a few seconds. Finally, we will have an overwhelming amount of data and we’ll need to mine it to learn about our customers and recommend products they like.
We care about your career growth, too. Once you join the team, you and your manager will jointly craft a career plan and you’ll review it regularly to ensure you’re on track to meet your goals. Whether your goals are to explore new technologies, take on bigger problems, or get to the next level, we’ll help you get there. Our business is growing fast, and our people will grow with it.
