Are you passionate about all things entertainment? Are you dreaming big, imagining yourself one day on the Iron Throne? Do you aspire to go beyond stellar to being Interstellar? What's your opinion of Christopher Nolan films - are they genius from their Inception or not the kind of thing you'd keep as a Memento - perhaps they give you Insomnia?
IMDb is the world’s most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content and is used by millions of people every day. We have a vast data set, tons of passionate users and are constantly improving the experience on our site.
Our Bristol Development Centre is at the heart of IMDb where our core challenge is to grow global contributions, assure the veracity of all IMDb’s contributed data, and store and publish the data at speed and scale in multiple territories and languages. We work in close collaboration with a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable data editors and are pushing the boundary of how technology can augment human insight by developing systems that collect, analyse and publish all the data that powers IMDb. With an increasing global reach there is also an ever-increasing sophistication of contributions and our systems need to address the scale and speed required to satisfy IMDb’s global consumer base.
We are looking for a talented Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the design and development of the next generation of our data contribution and management systems. You will provide technical and product leadership across the whole stack, achieving results through others and writing critical-path code yourself. You’ll play a leading role in defining your team’s technical direction, as well as influence surrounding teams through collaborative effort, and by driving engineering best practices. You will lead design reviews for your team, actively participate in design reviews across the organization, provide insightful code reviews and actively mentor other engineers. The ideal candidate would be excited to learn or knowledgeable about developing on the web, working with modern web technologies such as Angular or React, as well as experience in developing large-scale distributed systems and managing large data sets.
We’ll make sure you’re well rewarded with a competitive salary, stock units, and a range of other benefits, including healthcare and an employee discount. Not to mention the excellent long-term development prospects you’d expect from one of the world’s leading online retailers.
