Job Description

Amazon is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Business Manager, based in London, UK, to join a special project team on a customer-experience strategy project in 5 geographic locations. This team is responsible for creating and growing an innovative new project that will inform larger company decisions. Applicants can expect a fast paced, start-up environment, with day-to-day diversity that requires problem solving, good business acumen and comfort with ambiguity.

The Business Manager will be both strategic and hands-on in building and growing this project. They will provide analytical support for key business decisions, participate in planning cycles, work on supporting customers and drive innovation with a goal to continuously improve the customer experience.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Owning key streams of the project in the UK, including running day-to-day operations and regular business reviews
  • Identifying and analyzing new business opportunities, metrics, key performance indicators, and risks
  • Support the growth of the project across multiple innovations from a strategic and operational viewpoint
  • Developing and managing complex business processes, including developing an end-to-end analytical framework to help the organization interpret and take action on data
  • Performing deep-dive analysis to understand and describe the drivers of the business
  • Liaising with external service providers and vendors to drive project results
  • Navigate internal teams and work with diverse cross-functional groups, including business teams, finance, sales, technology, support, fulfillment, and supply chain
  • Collaborating with internal business partners to ensure project output is leveraged to its fullest
  • Participating as a hands-on leader in the business and providing thought leadership to improve processes and growing the business

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Science or equivalent and/or strong experience in relevant fields
  • Minimum 7 years of experience or master’s degree and 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Understanding of E-Commerce and retail
  • Strong technical competencies and ability to utilize systems to extract, capture and interpret data
  • Experienced business manager who can lead and influence teams cross-functionally to success
  • Excellent interpersonal skills — including written and oral communication skills (English)
  • Entrepreneurial/ keen interest in developing businesses
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary; general manager/ owner mentality


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred skills and Qualifications
  • Financial acumen including familiarity with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and related skills
  • Experience in digital marketing or building brands, including experience using Google analytics and similar software
  • Strong project management or management consulting experience
  • Experience with finance in business such as E-Commerce, Retail, Retail Operations
  • Track record of handling changing priorities and showing good judgment when working in stressful situations
  • Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment
  • Able to work with business partners in understanding the business requirements and implementing solutions
  • Able to leverage data to drive decision making
