The AWS Infrastructure DNS team is seeking enthusiastic and talented Systems Engineers to design, build and operate the large-scale control plane software used to drive the Amazon DNS fleet. We run systems that are critical to the platforms that Amazon's global retail, AWS and Kindle businesses run upon -- the DNS services in Amazon's datacenters and integration of Amazon's systems with the likes of Amazon Route 53 to manage public DNS.

Our key challenges include reliable delivery of updates, which continually raise the bar on latency, update propagation times, and security of the DNS infrastructure. As a lead member of our growing team, you will design and develop highly visible products, be involved in all aspects of the systems and software development lifecycle and interact with many other engineering teams across Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years experience in either system administration or software development. Great if you have both!
· Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithm design and complexity analysis
· Development experience with at least one programming language (such as Ruby, Python, C or C++) and knowledge of scripting languages.
· Experience with running / troubleshooting Linux-based servers
· Understanding of key networking concepts such as different protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc), OSI model, DNS

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of databases and AWS services.
· Excellent communication, prioritization, and analytical skills
· Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
· Must be able to see opportunities for improvement, take ownership and closely work with development team to drive product improvement.
· Passion for providing a great customer experience
