Amazon’s AutoPilot group is looking for a System Development Manager to lead and expand a team of amazing engineers in Dublin.
You will take an active part in leading the development and operations of Amazon current and building the next generation website platform technologies used to manage the rendering of our highly distributed website and service fleets worldwide. These fleets serve 10s of billions of customer requests per day through Amazon retail websites, Kindle, Amazon instant video, Amazon subsidiaries and more. You and your team of system development engineers will drive the evolution and scaling of Amazon's website platform over the coming years.
You will have a proven track record of shipping highly scaled software and systems designs as well as thriving in the fast paced world of managing those systems in production. This role is one of both individual team delivery as well as collaboration with software and infrastructure teams across the Company to partner on new approaches to building and serving Amazon.com and associated systems. You will need to demonstrate great passion for customers, agility and adaptability in the face of fast changing business requirements and innovation.
As the ideal candidate you will be experienced in shipping software and systems designs and managing multi-discipline teams including systems engineers, development engineers, and technical program managers. This role reports to the Senior Manager located in Dublin who leads teams in Seattle, Dublin, and Romania.
Specific responsibilities include the following: - Building a strategy and execution rhythm for your group of engineers - Contribute to defining and driving the long term products and solutions for Amazon.com’s platform strategy - Recruiting and talent development. - Driving Operation Excellence in your organization. - Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels of the organization.
Basic Qualifications: - BS Computer Science or other technical degree. -5+ years of direct experience with cloud hosting technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) - 5+ years of *NIX system administration experience, either as an individual contributor or manager/lead. - 3+ years experience managing an engineering team operating at scale. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, which will be key in driving customer communication. - Track record of defining product and technology roadmaps and driving their execution.
