AWS Lambda’s goal is nothing less than to simplify and improve the experience of computing in the cloud for every developer on the planet, from startups to the largest Fortune 100 companies. Serverless computing is rapidly changing how every company thinks about building and delivering software solutions, and Lambda is leading this industry wide effort.

AWS Lambda is continuing to grow in Dublin, Ireland – We are looking for a proven leader to help lead a newly formed team of exceptional software engineers to continue to define the Serverless revolution. Specifically, this role will focus on leading the Lambda execution environment team, whose software defines how our customer’s Lambda functions interact with an ever-growing list of language runtimes and container models. Join us as we redesign from the ground up, where every byte of memory, every cpu cycle, impacts the customer experience, allowing the team to have huge impact.

We want someone who has a proven record of delivering highly operable and maintainable software on time, has relentlessly high standards for themselves and everyone around them and who will drive engineering best practices throughout, while constantly looking for ways to make the systems we own better.

    The ideal candidate will…
Have a strong understanding of Software Development, Languages, Container Technologies, with a past experience working as a software development engineer. You have a breath of understanding from underlying Linux and language runtimes, to best practices on how to build and deploy software through containers. You will enjoy keeping your technical skills reasonably current, to the point that you can still contribute to architecture discussions. You regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

Enjoy being a really great people manager. Building, motivating and mentoring a world-class software engineering team is the most important part of this role. You should have a proven track record in recruiting and retaining top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.

Have strong project & product management experience. The successful candidate will not only create product roadmaps for the team, but help define the products we ship. This will include helping innovate and invent new value-add experiences and compute paradigms layered on top of our existing services. You will need excellent technical project management skills to deliver product roadmap items as well as other cross-team projects. Experience with Agile methodologies is an advantage. You will be intensely customer focused: you understand your customers’ challenges and are constantly looking for ways to solve them. You have great communication skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Know how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The right candidate will want to measure everything and be very data driven, will excel at using metrics, monitoring & alarming to improve the processes and performance of their team.
